A Tribute to the Bravehearts of the Nation
Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar commemorated its flagship event Samman Diwas on Saturday, 20 December 2025, with deep pride and reverence. An annual initiative of The Salwan Education Trust, Samman Diwas pays tribute to the valour, gallantry and supreme sacrifices of the Indian Armed Forces.
The event was graced by Lt. Gen. Bhavnish Kumar, AVSM, VSM, GOC (Delhi Area), alumnus of the 1984 batch, as the Chief Guest, and Smt. Veditha Reddy, IAS, as the Guest of Honour, in the presence of Trustees, Chairpersons, Managing Committee members, Directors, Principals, alumni, parents, staff and students of Salwan Institutions.
The day began with a Raktdaan Shivir, organised with R & R Hospital, Delhi Cantt and the Armed Forces Transfusion Centre, inaugurated by Lt. Gen. Avinash Das. The camp highlighted the school’s legacy of donating nearly 120 units of blood annually for 27 years.
A traditional welcome to the soldiers, student–soldier interactions, and a soulful rendition of “Vande Mataram” marking 150 years of the national song filled the atmosphere with patriotic fervour. A solemn Wreath Laying Ceremony honoured the martyrs. Shri Sushil Dutt Salwan, Chairman, Salwan Education Trust, reiterated that Samman Diwas, initiated in 2003 by Late Shri Shiv Dutt Salwan, reflects the institution’s enduring reverence for the Armed Forces.
The school felicitated Padma Shri awardees, decorated soldiers from the Rajputana Rifles and Gorkha Regiment, Veer Naris, Outstanding Alumni, Youth Changemakers, and conferred the ‘Smt. S. Randhawa Memorial Distinguished Teacher Award’.
The cultural highlight, “Udgosh: Shaurya ki Kalam Se,” celebrated India’s timeless spirit of heroism, complemented by a patriotic musical presentation by SPS Mayur Vihar. In his address, Lt. Gen. Bhavnish Kumar inspired students to uphold courage and innovation in emerging domains of national defence, while Smt. Veditha Reddy, IAS urged them to strive for excellence and nation-building.
The celebration concluded with Hunar Mela, showcasing traditional crafts, Mahabhoj organised by parents, and a Vote of Thanks by Soumil Rana, Head Boy.
Samman Diwas 2025 stood as a powerful tribute to the nation’s heroes, reaffirming the values of service, sacrifice, patriotism and unity.
