Social Science Department Organises Heritage Week 2025

Celebrating India’s Cultural Legacy
The Social Science Department of SPS, RN organised Heritage week from 16 April to 21 April 2025 offering students a vibrant opportunity to discover and celebrate India’s rich cultural, historical, and architectural legacy. A series of thoughtfully planned activities were organised for the week that including interactive workshops, special assemblies, and an educational excursion. Tis help students gain a deeper understanding of their cultural roots and also develop a sense of pride in their heritage.
Day 1: Heritage Quiz (16th April 2025)
Heritage Week began on an enthusiastic note with a Heritage Quiz conducted for Class VII students in the school amphitheatre. The quiz explored India’s ancient visual and performing arts, iconic landmarks, and historical milestones. The event fostered a spirit of healthy competition while igniting students’ curiosity aboutIndia’s cultural legacy. All participants were awarded certificates in recognition of their active participation.
Day 2: Heritage Day Special Assembly (17th April 2025)
Class IX students presented a special assembly to mark Heritage Day on 17th April 2025. The event commenced with the Heritage Oath, followed by a talk on the significance of World Heritage Day. Students’ vibrant dance performance showcasing Odisha’s tribal culture and soulful recitations of devotional poetry of great poets like Kabir, Tulsidas, and Meerabai enriched the assembly.
Day 3: Madhubani Art Workshop (19th April 2025)
The students of Classes VI to VIII participated in a Madhubani Art Workshop on 19th April 2025, They delved into the intricate patterns and rich cultural heritage of this traditional art form. The hands-on experience not only enhanced their artistic expression and fine motor skills but also nurtured patience and a deeper appreciation for the beauty and significance of Madhubani art.
Pre-Visit Workshop: “Whispers of Stone” (19th April 2025)
In preparation for the upcoming “Whispers of Stone” excursion to Qutub Minar, a pre-visit workshop was conducted for Class VI students on 19th April 2025. Organised by History Diaries, the session offered fascinating insights into the historical and architectural significance of Qutub Minar and nearby landmarks such as the Iron Pillar and Alai Darwaza. Through engaging storytelling and interactive activities, the workshop sparked curiosity and enthusiasm, setting the stage for a meaningful and informed field trip.
Day 4: Excursion to Qutub Minar (21st April 2025)
The culmination event of Heritage Week was the excursion to Qutub Minar on 21st April, with 131 Class VI students and 5 teachers. Guided by History Diaries, students explored key sites like the Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque, Iron Pillar, Alai Minar, and Qutub Minar. They participated in interactive activities, completed booklets, and enjoyed Nukkad Natak performances to learn about the history of these landmarks. The trip concluded with a quiz to reinforce their knowledge.
Heritage Week 2025 provided students with enriching learning experiences, from the Heritage Quiz and Special Assembly to the Madhubani Art Workshop and Qutub Minar excursion. These activities deepened their understanding of India’s cultural heritage, fostering pride and curiosity. The success of the week reflects the school’s commitment to a balanced education that values both academics and cultural awareness.
