Unlocking Minds: A Journey Through the Psychology Internship

Psychology students of Class XII from Salwan Public School participated in the Psychology Internship Programme hosted by Fortis Hospital, Shalimar Bagh.
The programme was conducted in two batches from 2nd to 7th June and 9th to 14th June 2025. This offline internship offered students an excellent platform to deepen their understanding of psychological concepts through practical, experiential learning. Under the expert guidance of clinical psychologists and psychiatrists, participants engaged in interactive sessions covering core areas such as psychological interviewing, history taking, Mental Status Examination (MSE), and techniques for establishing therapist-client rapport.
In addition to these foundational skills, students explored a wide spectrum of mental health disorders and learned to distinguish between clinical conditions and psychological concerns. The programme also introduced therapeutic modalities like Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy, while delving into relevant themes from social psychology, including the spotlight effect and self-esteem.
The internship further provided insights into diverse career opportunities in the field of psychology and underscored the significance of community mental health—emphasising awareness building, early intervention, and life skills education.
This enriching experience allowed students to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application. Salwan Public School extends heartfelt gratitude to Fortis Hospital, Shalimar Bagh, for facilitating this impactful and inspiring educational initiative.
