Rakshasutram – Threads of Gratitude, Bonds of Protection

Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar organised ‘Rakshasutram – Threads of Gratitude, Bonds of Protection’ on 18 August 2026 at Janak Juneja Hall to honour the selfless service and dedication of Delhi Police officers. Principal, Smt. Priyanka Barara extended a green welcome to all and felicitated the accomplished officers for their exemplary bravery, dedication and outstanding service in maintaining law and order, ensuring women safety, and serving the community beyond the call of duty.

The programme was graced by Sh. Devesh Kumar Srivastava, IPS, Special Commissioner of Police, as the Chief Guest, along with Sh. Madhur Verma, IPS, Joint Commissioner of Police, Central District, Sh. Rohit Rajbir Singh, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police Central District, Sh. Rishi Kumar, IPS, Additional DCP, Central and Sh. Prashant Chaudhary, IPS, Additional DCP-II, Central as distinguished guests. The event commenced with a warm welcome and lamp lighting ceremony, followed by the felicitation of the distinguished officers.

An insightful presentation by Sh. Devesh Kumar Srivastava sensitised students about cyber safety, online frauds, cyberbullying, gaming addiction and drug abuse, encouraging them to make responsible and healthy choices. This was followed by an interactive session with the students, where they actively engaged with the Special Commissioner, asked questions and shared their concerns and perspectives on digital safety, peer pressure and responsible citizenship. A vibrant cultural programme featuring a patriotic medley by the school choir and classical dance performances added to the spirit of the occasion.

The highlight was the Rakhi-tying ceremony, symbolising gratitude and the bond of protection between students and the guardians in khaki. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks and the National Anthem.

The Vote of Thanks was moved by the Headmistress Smt. Rashi Oberoi, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Delhi Police for being the true pillars of safety and for inspiring the younger generation. The event ended with the National Anthem.
