Beyond Celebration: Freedom that Feeds, Heals, and Unites

Salwan Public School marked the 79th Independence Day with a meaningful theme-’Community Well-being’, emphasising that an aware and engaged community forms the backbone of a progressive nation, and embodying these values through awareness, unity, and service.
The celebrations began with a spirited Prabhat Pheri led by the students of classes VI-VIII in the school’s vicinity, spreading the message of three vital freedoms for a healthier society:
- Freedom from Ignorance on Vector-Borne Diseases
- Freedom from Mindless Waste Disposal
- Freedom for a Tobacco-Free Environment
The procession saw the active participation of the members of the Resident Welfare Association (RWA), symbolising the power of community partnership in driving change.
Back at the campus, the energy shifted from marching feet to rhythmic beats as students presented a cultural dance performance beautifully aligned with the Independence Day theme of blending patriotism with the spirit of social responsibility.
Ms. Priyanka Barara, the school Principal, in her address, extended heartfelt thanks to the RWA members for their encouragement and support, acknowledging their role in inspiring the students.
The day concluded with a deeply meaningful act of service rendered by the students from Class VII, council members, and primary sections. They served Langar to the Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS). The wholesome meal, lovingly prepared by parents, was more than just food—it was a gesture of gratitude, empathy, and the school’s core value of Service Before Self in action.
This Independence Day, Salwan Public School reminded everyone that true freedom lies not just in breaking chains of the past, but in building together a healthier, kinder, and more responsible future.
