CBSE CPD on “ Promoting Mental Health and Wellness among students”

A Capacity Building Programme on ‘Promoting Mental Health and Wellness among students’ was organised on Monday, 2nd March 2026, at JJ Hall, Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar for the teachers. The session was led by two distinguished resource persons-Ms. Neetu Jhatta (Principal- Wishwood Cottage) and Dr. Ritu Aggarwal (PGT- Jagganath International School). The workshop focused on understanding the need to promote mental health and emotional well-being among students in today’s academic environment.

The resource persons were accorded a green welcome by Ms. Priyanka Barara, Principal, who in her address emphasised the growing responsibility of educators in fostering a supportive atmosphere. She highlighted the importance of encouraging open expression and nurturing students’ emotional resilience.

The participants explored practical ways to help students develop healthy coping strategies and bring about positive behavioural changes. The workshop stressed upon the importance of healthy mental wellness as unwanted thoughts can cause anxiety, phobia, and depression among students which can affect their daily life and learning.

The sessions engaged the participants into collaborative activities and hands-on demonstrations. The resource person discussed healthy coping strategies, reinforcing that students are not alone in their feelings and making students believe that support is always available around them.

Strategies like think-pair-share, active listening, self-expression, therapies integration with music and art, peer support system,mindfulness breaks, meditation and PRASHAST screening were discussed with the teachers.

The key takeaway was the importance of creating a supportive system in school where students feel safe to express themselves and seek help  without hesitation. The session was highly informative, insightful, and transformative for all participants.
