Educational Visit to the National Gandhi Museum, Rajghat
Students of the ITIHAAS Club, Class VIII, participated in an enriching educational visit to the National Gandhi Museum, Rajghat, as part of the Social Science Club engagement. The visit aimed at deepening their understanding of Mahatma Gandhi’s life, philosophy, and his pivotal role in India’s freedom struggle.
The day began with an engaging storytelling session led by an ITIHAAS representative, who narrated inspiring episodes from Gandhiji’s life. Students were introduced to his ideals of truth, non-violence, and simplicity through meaningful anecdotes and discussions.
This was followed by a visit to the recreated Gandhi Ashram, wherein students observed the simplicity of Gandhiji’s daily life. Exploring his living space and personal belongings offered valuable insight into how he practiced self-discipline and humility.
At the main museum, students viewed rare photographs, manuscripts, letters, and historic relics showcasing crucial moments of India’s independence movement. The original letters exchanged between Gandhiji and global leaders particularly captivated them.
The Martyrdom Gallery left a profound impact as students learned about the final moments of Gandhiji’s life through an informative talk by the museum guide.
In the Charkha Gallery, students discovered the importance of the spinning wheel in promoting self-reliance and the Swadeshi movement. The visit concluded with a hands-on spinning activity in the Children’s Gallery, providing students with a practical experience of using the Charkha.
The visit was highly informative and inspiring, encouraging students with a deeper appreciation of Gandhiji’s timeless values and his enduring contribution to the nation.
