Exploring Ownership Models: An Enlightening Talk by Prof. Nick Motson

Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar, hosted an enlightening session of GREAT TALK on 15th September 2025 for the students of Classes XI and XII, Commerce team. It was conducted by Professor Nick Motson, Associate Dean of the MSc Programme at City St George’s, University of London. The speaker delivered a lecture titled: “Who Should Own a Company? Exploring the Impact of Ownership Models on Business and Society.”

Professor Motson, with hands-on experience as a proprietary trader and impressive credentials from Bayes Business School and London Business School, enlightened the students about the world of business ownership. He skillfully unraveled the dynamics of family ownership, public ownership, and private equity ownership, showing how each model shapes corporate strategy, financial performance, and long-term societal impact.

The session was very engaging with discussion about the real-world case studies, eye-opening research findings, and practical examples that illustrated the complex relationship between ownership and business decisions. Students were invited to think critically about how ownership affects not just profit margins but employee welfare, innovation, and society at large.

The interactive Q&A segment sparked lively discussions, helping students connect theoretical concepts from their textbooks to real-world business challenges. It was an enriching experience that broadened students’ perspectives and encouraged them to reflect deeply on the role of ownership in shaping the future of business and society.
