SET Capacity Building Programme – (PGTs and TGTs)

 Under the visionary leadership of the Salwan Education Trust, the Capacity Building Programme held on 29th and 30th May 2025 for TGTs at SPS Rajendra, marked a dynamic step toward empowering educators with innovative pedagogical tools and holistic teaching strategies. Designed to foster reflective practice, enhance classroom communication, and promote well-being, the workshop brought together experienced resource persons and enthusiastic teachers in a spirit of collaborative learning.

 Day 1 – Transforming Classrooms through Collaborative Learning (TGTs)

Day 1 on 29th May commenced with the opening address by Principal SPS Rajendra Nagar Smt. Priyanka Barara, which set the tone for the day, emphasising the importance of continuous professional development in preparing educators for the future. The day unfolded with three thoughtfully curated sessions, each offering a unique perspective and focus.

Session 1, led by Capt. Richa Sharma Katyal, Principal SPS Mayur Vihar, focused on “Transactional Teaching Styles” and explored the psychological dynamics of communication through Transactional Analysis. The interactive ‘Broken Squares’ activity encouraged collaboration, empathy, and observational skills. The session also introduced the ABCD of Life, four life positions that influence interpersonal behaviour and concluded with an insightful discussion on 12 influencing styles that shape classroom interactions.

Session 2, conducted by Dr. Sunita Madan, Principal SPS Trans Delhi Signature City, explored the synergy between nature and well-being in her session, “Nurturing Nature, Nurturing Self.” She advocated for mindfulness practices and simple green interventions like terrariums, journalling, and nature walks to reduce stress and enhance mental clarity among educators.

Session 3, helmed by eminent educationist Dr. Usha Ram, focused on implementing interdisciplinary learning in line with the NEP and NCF. Emphasising a holistic, student-centric pedagogy, she guided teachers in designing integrated lesson plans through collaborative group work.

The day concluded with a warm vote of thanks, reflecting the spirit of shared learning. The programme left participants energised, empowered, and ready to transform classrooms with fresh perspectives.

Day 2 – Subject Specific Sessions (TGTs and PGTs)

Day 2 of the Capacity Building Programme, held on 30 May 2025, was thoughtfully designed to strengthen subject-specific pedagogies across the Commerce, English, Hindi, and Mathematics departments. The overarching aim was to empower educators with innovative, experiential, and learner-centered strategies aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Through hands-on activities, collaborative tasks, and integration of technology and interdisciplinary approaches, the sessions focused on enhancing classroom engagement, improving assessment practices, fostering critical and creative thinking, and making learning more relevant, inclusive, and impactful. The day served as a dynamic platform for professional enrichment and pedagogical transformation.

Commerce Department

Resource Persons: SPS RN Faculty Ms. Namrata Gandhi- PGTs SPS RN, Ms. Aarti Mittal, HOD Commerce Department SPS RN

The Commerce CPD workshop empowered educators with innovative strategies through three sessions. The first session introduced ActiLearn, a kinesthetic teaching model integrating games like “Concept Catch” and “Mind Marathon Relay” to boost engagement. The second session explored diverse commerce careers, equipping teachers to mentor students through interactive tools and case studies. The final session fostered entrepreneurial thinking through challenges like “Mystery Box” and real-world startup case studies. The programme culminated in a valedictory address celebrating innovation, career readiness, and enterprise. The workshop effectively bridged curriculum with creativity, critical thinking, and 21st-century skills.

English Department

Resource Persons: Ms Jyotsna Grover, VP-SPS RN, Faculty SPS RN: Ms Divya Dhruga, Ms Shelza Bhardwaj, Ms Neetu Bhateja, Ms Ritika Malik, Ms Shalini Mazumdar-PGT, SPS MV and Ms Dolly Dhawan, HOD English Department, SPSRN

The English workshop aimed at enriching pedagogy through language skill development and creative methodologies. The first session enhanced LSRW skills with engaging activities like Listening Bingo, Photo Frenzy, Book Trailers, and the CODER writing strategy. The second session introduced interdisciplinary, theatre-based, and art-integrated approaches for inclusive classrooms. In the third session, educators mastered Bloom’s Taxonomy and designed effective question papers using MCQs that test critical thinking. Through collaboration and hands-on tasks, participants left with classroom-ready strategies to foster communication, creativity, and assessment literacy in students. The workshop was a celebration of innovation and expression.

Hindi Department

Resource Persons:  Mr Sanjay Mishra HOD Hindi Department, SPSRN, Ms Tilak Raj Sharma-Faculty SPS RN

The Hindi workshop spotlighted three key areas: literature, grammar, and technology. The first session emphasised nurturing literary interest through folk tales, dramatization, and student-led storytelling. The second session encouraged grammar exploration using textbooks as research tools, promoting real-world language understanding through creative presentations. The third session focused on integrating tech tools like Gamma AI, Wordwall, and Adobe Express to make language learning interactive and experiential. Concluding with a reflective address, the workshop inspired educators to reimagine Hindi teaching as a blend of empathy, expression, and digital fluency rooted in cultural relevance.

Mathematics Department

Resource Persons:  Mr. J.C. Nijhawan, CBSE Subject Expert in Mathematics., Ms. Sangeeta Gulati, Head of Mathematics Department at Sanskriti School, New Delhi, Ms. Bhawna Puri, VP SPS MV , Mr. Anuj Manchanda VP SPS Tronica City

The Mathematics CPD workshop focused on competency-based learning, technology integration, and error remediation. The teachers were guided on creating NEP-aligned assessments that emphasize application and critical thinking. Session 1 on GeoGebra empowered educators to teach abstract concepts using interactive digital tools. A session on common errors, addressed student misconceptions and remediation strategies through engaging role plays. The programme concluded with recap and reflection, equipping teachers with effective, learner-centred approaches that strengthen conceptual clarity and assessment practices.

The two-day workshops concluded with educators feeling empowered and inspired, equipped with innovative tools and strategies to transform classrooms and enhance student learning experiences.
